Dr. Lola Dare

Lola Dare is an award winning community physician, epidemiologist, public health practitioner, development consultant, sociopreneur and irrepressible global health advocate for women, girls, young persons for over 30 years. She has championed the application of evidence and data for policy, evaluation and accountability demand functions of a broad range of non-state actors including civil society and community based organizations, private sector and the media. Lola has been in the forefront of advocacy for resilient, accountable right based health care services and systems strengthening. She has engaged policy makers, parliamentarians, large donor funded programmes and national governments including bilateral, multi-lateral and intergovernmental organizations and agencies. At country, regional and global levels, Lola has nimbly linked investments in health to social protection, with resultant multi-sector actions for large scale impact.
Lola Dare is an innovative thought leader whose voice is well respected as informed and authentically southern in global, regional and national level dialogues on health and development. She is President of Chestrad Global, a trail-blazing, award winning global social enterprise. Formerly known as CHESTRAD, Chestrad Global has grown from an indigenous research firm into an African-led social enterprise with significant influence in global health and development.
Lola Dare’s impact on global health, management, leadership and development at all levels is expansive. Her effort has resulted in I Will Give Africa (IWG), a novel platform that seeks to positively disrupt traditional norms of development financing, focusing on not only financial inclusion for women and young people, but also expanding domestic financing for health and development from public budgets and more.
She has served in many roles in governance mechanisms of international agencies including the US National Academies for Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM), Global Fund for Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, Gavi, Partnership for Maternal and Child Health (PMNCH), , High Level Task Force on ICPD Beyondv2015, the Lancet, WHO technical teams and agencies of the United Nations, African Union and African continental organizations. Lola-Dare brings passion, competence and far-reaching knowledge of much needed country context to development dialogues with a unique capacity to deploy innovation and fresh thinking. Lola has been awarded membership of the UK Based Game Changers Women’s Leadership network with recognition on its Wall of Wonder Women. She is a member of the Transition Independent Monitoring Board (TIMB), Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and the RBM Partnership to End Malaria.
Lola Dare is a graduate of the College of Medicine University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Epidemiology; with a bias for statistics (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine); awarded certificates in Population and Development and International Health as David E. Bell and Takemi Fellow of the Harvard School of Public Health, USA; and in Advance Management from INSEAD, the prestigious European Business School, France. Dr Dare is a member of the West African Postgraduate Medical College, Faculty of Public Health and fellow of the Nigerian National Postgraduate Medical College, Faculty of Community Medicine. She is a Fellow, by distinction, of the Faculty of Public Health, United Kingdom, a joint Faculty of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, (London, Edinburgh and Glasgow). She served for many years as its Overseas Regional Adviser for Africa. Lola Dare is published beyond her immediate spheres of influence and well awarded for her work.
